Nebraska Kids Code Coalition Applauds Committee Passage of the Age-Appropriate Online Design Code

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Kids Code Coalition today applauded the Senate Banking, Commerce & Insurance Committee’s advancement of Nebraska Senator Carolyn Bosn’s LB504, the Age-Appropriate Online Design Code Act, by a vote of 7-0-1, issuing the following statement:

“We applaud Chair Mike Jacobson and the Senate Banking, Commerce & Insurance Committee for today’s overwhelming vote in favor of the Nebraska Age-Appropriate Online Design Code Act, and we’re especially grateful to Senator Carolyn Bosn and Governor Pillen for their leadership. By supporting the Kids Code, our lawmakers are showing that the voices of grieving parents, youth advocates, medical and educational professionals are louder and more powerful than the Big Tech lobby’s transparent spin. With harm to kids and teens piling up as Big Tech companies continue to expose young people to exploitation and abuse in order to pad their profits, we will continue to advocate fiercely for this much-needed legislation.”

The Kids Code Coalition is a wide-ranging group of national and state organizations dedicated to improving youth online security and privacy by supporting policies that ensure companies prioritize kids’ and teens’ safety and developmental needs when designing digital platforms and products.
