Michigan Kids Code (SB 758–SB 759)
Introduced by Senator Kevin Hertel and Senator Stephanie Chang, the Michigan Kids Code establishes standards for online platforms relating to usage by kids, including increasing privacy and safety settings, prohibiting targeted advertising, and increasing parental control of their children’s accounts.
Stop Addictive Feeds Exploitation (SAFE) For Kids Act (SB 757)
Introduced by Senator Darrin Camilleri, the SAFE For Kids Act would prohibit social media platforms from providing addictive, personal data-driven feeds to minors unless parental consent is given.
Leading Ethical AI Development (LEAD) for Kids Act (SB Bill 760)
Introduced by Senator Dayna Polehanki, the LEAD for Kids Act would ensure that dangerous AI companion chatbots are inaccessible to children, including those that have the capability to encourage self-harming behaviors, illegal activities, sexually explicit interactions, etc.
