The New Mexico Kids Code Coalition brings together parents, youth, medical professionals, partners organizations, and other experts to advocate for legislation to provide safety-by-design and privacy-by-default protections for kids and teens online.
Endorsed Legislation
Internet Privacy and Safety Act (HB307)
Introduced by Rep. Pamelya Herndon, the Internet Privacy and Safety Act would strengthen consumer data protection by requiring data minimization, granting consumers rights to access and control their personal data, and prohibiting unauthorized data collection and sales. The legislation requires online platforms likely accessed by children to provide privacy-by-default and safety-by-design protections to kids.
Community Privacy & Safety Act (SB420)
Introduced by Sen. Angel Charley, the Community Privacy & Safety Act is the companion bill to the Internet Privacy and Safety Act (HB307).
